Members of the Moroccan National Parliamentary Representation are taking part in the 32nd Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, organized in Porto, Portugal, from June 29 to July 3, 2025, under the theme: “Commemorating 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: Responding to a New Reality in the OSCE.”
The Moroccan parliamentary delegation, which enjoys the status of a partner for cooperation within the Assembly includes Rep. Marouane Chbaatou (Group of the National Rally of Independents), Rep. Khalid Hatimi (Group of Authenticity and Modernity), Rep. Najib El Khaldi (Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism), Cllr. Mohamed Hanine (Group of the National Rally of Independents), and Cllr. Lahcen Aït Isha (Group of Authenticity and Modernity).
The agenda of the Session includes the presentation and discussion of the reports of the General Committees of the Assembly and the related draft recommendations, namely the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Questions, the Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology, and Environment, and the Committee on Political Affairs and Security.
The Annual Session comes amidst an international context marked with major challenges resulting from the rise in conflicts and their impacts on the stability of the region. In this respect, several matters were the subject of debates by the participants, including the repercussions of the security, political, and humanitarian crises in Europe and the Middle East, the impact of climate change and migration, the protection of human rights in times of crisis, and the importance of anchoring the freedom of press and expression as an essential lever for building global democratic societies.
The Session serves an important chance for the members of the Moroccan parliamentary delegation to communicate with their counterparts from the various participating countries and exchange views on the questions of mutual concern, thus contributing to the reinforcement of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation ties, serving the interests of the Kingdom, and strengthening its position as an active partner within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
