Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abdelmajid Fassi Fihri, Represents the House in Closing Sitting of the 15th Legislative Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abdelmajid Fassi Fihri, participated in the Closing Sitting of the 15th Legislative Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal, held in Dakar on Monday, June 30, 2025.

This important parliamentary event was attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Mauritania and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Gambia, as well as prominent politicians and guests of honor from West Africa.

In his address on this occasion, Rep. Fassi Fihri praised the recent legislative elections in Senegal at the end of 2024, which were commended by international observers, continental and international organizations, and civil society organizations. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed that the success of the legislative elections reflects Senegal's commitment to democracy and best political practices, thereby strengthening its position as a pillar of democracy in Africa.

Rep. Abdelmajid Fassi Fihri also praised the excellent relations uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal, which are based on historical, human, cultural, and political ties. In the same respect, he highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries and lauded the dynamism of these relations under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and His Excellency the President of Senegal.

In this context, the Deputy Speaker stressed the special importance that the Kingdom of Morocco attaches to strengthening South-South cooperation, particularly with African countries, recalling the many joint projects that embody this approach, including economic and social development projects, the exchange of expertise in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, vocational training and infrastructure, as well as cultural and religious cooperation.

Rep. Fassi Fihri also stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco attaches the utmost importance to respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, praising Senegal's position in support of Morocco's primary cause, namely the Moroccan Sahara issue.

The Deputy Speaker concluded his address by expressing the desire of the Moroccan House of Representatives to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with the Senegalese National Assembly through the exchange of experiences and expertise and increased coordination in regional and international fora in the service of peace, development, and democracy on the African continent.
